Unable to connect the iPhone 4 to a Lenovo T410 laptop?

Dear readers,

First of all, thanks for opening the topic 😉

Well here we go: I got a new iPhone 4 which I would like to pair with my business lenovo T410 windows 7 laptop: I can't manage to do it.

- The iPhone does not find the laptop, but the laptop finds the iPhone.
- When trying to pair from the laptop, the phone does not react and the mecanism fall in a time out after a while.
- Tried the same operation with a friend's iPhone: no problem. After few seconds the iPhone of my friend shows a request for entering the paraing code: it works.
- We both have the same ios version (latest).
- My iPhone paires well with other laptops and other bluetooth devices (till now, it's the first trouble I encounter).
- The phone seems just not to see this laptop in particular.

I tried updating the phone without success. I don't understand where to act to solve this.

Does somebody know where to look at? or how to fix this issue?

Many thanks uys 😉

With my best regards,

Thanks for your response!

Well, first about the reason: as said, I've a business laptop and my purpose is to synchronise business contacts, mails (if possible, not mandatory) and most important synchronise the calendar and meetings. I can do it with a nokia phone without problem but it's not the goal to take 2 phones with me just for that...

About the faisability, it should be possible I think. As the purpose is not file transfer but synchronise with LotusNotes (business mail client) on the laptop.

Anyway, the problem is just, I think, a matter of connectivity in particular with my iPhone because with a colleague's iPhone it connects. 😟

Many thanks for your answer 😉

Unfortunettly, I didn't manage to solve it till now.

With kind regards,
Fabrice

The iphone does not support wireless sync with a computer, either WiFi or bluetooth. You can sync via iTunes and a cable. I believe this will require 3rd party software on your computer, though. There is a product called companionlink that sells for roughly $70 US that looks like it will do the trick, allowing sync via cable or wifi.

Notes is quite common, I realize. I used it myself for over 10 years back in the day, but it's completely non standard and has a relatively small user base compared to Exchange.

I do not know much about iPhone 4 however, I happened to have the same T410 like yours. Mine running win7 Pro, x64.
Perhaps you could try to first update to the latest driver of your PC's bluetooth? Ideally, try to update all drivers just to make sure you have all the latest working devices?

BTW, when your friend's iphone 4 connected successfully to your laptop, did you try to transfer some files (pictures, music, documents, etc...) from the phone to the PC? Was it successful?

Thanks and hope it work for you

They iPhone does not do any sycning or transfer of any kind over bluetooth. Only audio profiles are support for headsets.

If you want to sync with lotusnotes there is an app in the app store from IBM that you will need to use for all your stuff. All contact syncing, mail, meetings is done through the mail app which supports IMAP, POP3, and Exchange. If your company's lotus server supports one of those you could get it going that way, you will need to talk to your IT people.
