23.98fps vs 24fps?

Hi there,

We shot a project with the DVX100 using the 24P Advanced mode.

I'm currently digitizing the clips into my Mac. However, there are two timeline settings, one at 23.98fps and another at 24fps.

What is the difference and which one do I choose?

Thanks for the help.

You want 23.98. 24fps is for going directly to film, frame for frame. And it is for working with film original footage that you intend on exporting cut lists and cutting the negative. 23.98 is the frame rate for video work.

Why 23.98? Intending on outputting to HD or DVD only? If you intend on exporting to DV tape, it is always best to shoot 24p and work at 29.97, as that is the rate of DV.

And what are you doing working on a Christmas eve/day? Stop this and open some presents!
