Purchased apps on ipod touch get deleted when I sync

I have the box checked on itunes to sync purchases but whenever I buy an app on my ipod touch and sync it the app disappears. Then I have to re-download it.

This is driving me crazy why does it do this?

Mac OS X (10.6.4)

It gets deleted from what? The iPod? Does it get transfered to the computer?> Is the computer authorized for the iTunes account that purchased the app?

What about the answer to my other question. Is the computer authorized for the iTunes account that purchased the apps?

On the iPod go to: Settings>Store. In iTunes on the computer it is shown in the upper right below the Search Box.

Okay now it deleted aps that I downloaded to my iPad. I think the issue must be with iTunes
