import text apply style tags

HI everyone, I'm learning about pages 09 and am impressed with it's abilities. I'm trying to flow a newspaper now and In Quark and InDesign you can import a text file that contains tags or references to styles and flow it into your document and it will apply the styles you've previously create in your template. Can this be done in pages 09? If so, how do you import a text file (it will have enough text to fill approx. 40 pages, and also, how do I define my styles in my text document, in quark you use xpress tags in your text file to associate them, you can't see them after they flow, they are only for assigning styles to the text that follows. for example in quark the text file imported may look like this.....
@stylename: some text here
@stylename2: some more text here

etc..

thanks!

imac, Mac OS X (10.6.7), pages 09

No, feature unavailable.

I guess that this may be done with a script but to build such one, I must get a sample text file.

"some text here" isn't sufficiently precise to decipher it as a style description.
