Arranger Keyboard Emulation in Mainstage

I'm offering this post as a bit of information for anyone who might have a similar need. I am performing for a group of singers who are accustomed to an accompaniment by a Yamaha Tyros 3 arranger keyboard. What I needed to do was provide something similar for them without having to purchase yet another $4600 piece of equipment. Here is the solution. 1) You can purchase One Man Band (www.1manband.nl) for $50. This software is an emulation of the functionality of the Yamaha arranger keyboards. With the provided links to styles available on the internet (free) you can have a full range of styles to work with. The software documentation is quite complete and enables you to modify existing styles or create your own new ones. 2) In MainStage: a) create a new concert with the blank keyboard starter. b) create 16 keyboards, each with a separate MIDI channel input (channels 1-16). c) create a set for your patches then create your first patch (which can be a template for all subsequent ones): create 12-16 channel strips each assigned to one of the keyboards created at the concert level (that way each channel strip has a separate MIDI channel input); load sounds according to the style info in OMB. 3) in OMB: assign controls to your MIDI controller. 4) Connect the two applications using the IAC driver (Audio-MIDI Setup) by selecting "device is online". Now you can play all your GarageBand, Logic, and other AU sounds and effects with the auto accompaniment and styles of the Yamaha instruments. I have found that the styles are surprisingly uniform in their MIDI channel layout: MIDI Chs 9 & 10: drums; 11 Bass; 12 & 13 "chord"; 14 pad; 15 & 16 "phrase". Be sure to disable patch change in Mainstage at concert level or else the patch change information transmitted by OMB will produce some unwanted results. There are some limitations in this solution, but it is the best I have been able to come up with so far. If anybody has a better solution, I would love to hear about it.
