Conflicting Port Number UDP

Hello. I hope I can get someone to help or give some answer here. I've tried getting help from VOIPo.com, my phone service provider, but they were not able to figure this out. I am trying to configure my Airport Extreme so that I can get better quality calls. Here's part of their instruction on VOIPo:

1. Assign static IP to VOIPo adapter
2. Enable port forwarding and forward port range 5004-65000 (UDP) to the new static IP.

I tried to set up port mapping with that range but it resulted in an error message indicating Conflicting Port Number UDP. I don't have anything else set up, and VOIPo can't offer have any answer. Any idea? Thanks!

I wonder if you or someone can give an opinion if it's excessive to require a port range of 5004-65000 (UDP) just for a VOIP?

Not necessarily ... and it really depends on which protocol is being used for VoIP communications.

For example:

Using H.323 (Callserve), utilizes the following ports:
o UDP port 1719 (Callserve signalling)
o TCP port 1720 (Callserve signalling)
o UDP ports 5000 to 65535 (RTP audio stream)

Using SIP:
o UDP port 5060 (SIP signalling)
o TCP port 5060 (SIP signalling)
o UDP ports 16384 to 32767 (RTP audio stream)
