Trouble with Apple TV and Sony Bravia
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

I just started having the exact same problem, just recently. Maybe it was the last update? Was working perfectly up until a few days ago. Reset modem (all other computers have full signal), reset Apple TV, switched HDMI cable out. Same thing, "audio only", then "no signal".
It sounds like an HDMI handshake issue, you may try to unplug the HDMI cable out of the TV and plug it back in. In some cases you may have to plug and unplug and power cycle both devices to initiate the HDCP handshake again.
Sony Bravia demand HDMI 1.3 or 1.4 cable. Older HDMI Cable will not work
Good news! It worked after I killed the power on my surge protector. I tried plugging/unplugging HDMI, switching HDMI inputs, but it didn't work. I also tried killing the power by unplugging the ATV2 and Bravia, but it only worked when I switched off the surge protector for over a minute and turned it back on. Thanks!
I had same problem. I unplugged the HDMI from the TV and unplugged the power source from the Apple TV. Then I plugged the HDMI back in, then the power source.
I have the same issue. Sony Bravia does not recognize any device on HDMI. I bought HDMI 1.3 cables and same problem. The ATV works in all other TV sets.I did the plug in out thing and nothing.

I have Sony TV Bravia. HDMI must be version 3 or later. Move home to HDMI number you put cable into.
It should work.
what does that mean. Home?
i have had this same problem -- blank screen on bravia. the ATV worked for a long time without an issue. then it wouldn't work. after not being able to start it, i went to an apple shop and they were able to get it to show on a computer monitor.
i have subsequently tried ATV on two different TVs (sony bravia and new samsung). i have changed HDMI cables (four different ones), tried hooking through an HDMI hub and also directly into the TV, tried powering off all devices (including TV until completely drained) and tried both reset (menu/down and menu/up to apparently change resolution) basically every adjustment and reconfiguration i can think of. i have also several times restored system software in apple tv without any problems (ATV shows up when plugged into a computer and screen says new software update successful).
but still ATV is blank on the TV screens.
any ideas?
A similar problem has recently started occurring for me. Turn the ATV on and switch to appropriate HDMI and all is good for about 20 seconds then screen goes blank and it just says HDMI2 at the top, indicating no signal from the ATV. Tried powering ATV off and on it reappears for 20 seconds then disappears again. Changed the HDMI from 2 to 3 and it worked until the next time we came to use ATV. Is this a problem with a recent ATV update does anyone know? Is there a solution?
I am having this same problem. I have a Sony Bravia and my ATV has been working fine for months. All of a sudden tonight I get "no signal". The ATV is powered on. I have tried every HDMI port and I have tried powering on/off both the TV and the ATV. What is going on?? Anyone have any ideas??
