Adobe Reader 10 not working with Mac OS 10.6.7 browser

After upgrading to Mac OS 10.6.7, Adobe Reader 10 will not download a pdf file properly from either Safari or Firefox. In either browser, the resulting page is totally blank. Downloading older versions of Adobe Reader has not resolved the issue. Outside of any connection with a browser, Adobe Reader 10 works flawlessly as a free standing program. Would be grateful for any assistance.

Aside from the excellent suggestion to check with Adobe, I am curious why you would prefer the Adobe Reader when Preview is available and capable of doing the job? In order to have all .pdf's open with Preview, just do a Get Info on one (click on Command + I) and then choose Preview under "open with" and make sure that "use this application to open all documents like this" is checked.

For everyone having the problem:

Highlight one of your .pdf documents. Hit Command + I on the keyboard for the "get info" window to open up.

Check to see what the "Open with" shows. If it is not Preview, choose Preview. You may have to click on the little lock in the bottom right corner first to unlock it and enter your admin password. When done, click the little lock to close it. Close the window. Restart computer. Try a .pdf now to see if it works.
