USB not recognizing....

USB not recognizing....

I have tried multiple times to save files to my USB memory stick. I plug it into my MacBook Pro and nothing happens. The computer doesn't recognize that it is even there, and I have looked into every place I could think off. Both ports show nothing, and I have tried multiple memory sticks. When I charge my Ipod, it works... Help please!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

Apple menu -> System preferences -> CDs & DVDs make sure all settings are Open in Finder.

Test your usb stick into another computer, if it does the same thing, well , your usb stick is dead.

Or maybe a macbook pro hardware problem

I have the same problem- the USB stick works in other computers but won't show up on mine. Also, other USB stick WILL show up on mine; very frustrating!
