Recover Clips from iMovie trash on iPad2?

I was working on a project in iMovie on my iPad2 and decided to start over. When I deleted the "project" all my raw footage was deleted as well. I thought it would save the referenced footage and just delete the edit version I was working on.

Is there any way to retrieve those video clips from the trash? I haven't "emptied" the trash, but can't figure out a way to access it....even if it is accessible. I was ALOT of footage. I'm super bummed. Thanks.

I shot it with my ipad camera directly into imovie. 5 of 30 or so clips I took are in my cameral roll. Unfortunately not the good ones. I haven't synced since I took the footage, so nothing on my imac. Not sure what you mean by 'backup'? I've only had the iPad for a few weeks, so still learning the ins and outs.

These is video clips taken on a long, wonderful trip. SOOOOooooo bummed it's gone. any insight is appreciated.

Here's what the deal is... You need to save the clips that where made within the project to the camera roll...

Move recorded video to the Camera Roll
You can move video that you recorded directly into an iMovie project to the Camera Roll, which allows you to use the video in other iMovie projects.

From the help section...
*To move recorded video to the Camera Roll:
Open the project that contains the video you want to move to the Camera Roll.
Tap the Video button below the Media Library.
NOTE: If your iPad is in portrait mode, first tap the Media Library button in the upper-left corner of the screen, and tap the Video button at the bottom of the Media Library that appears.

Tap Edit in the top-left corner of the screen.
Tap the blue File button on the left end of each video clip you want to move.
Tap Done.
After you move recorded video to the Camera Roll, the video appears in the iMovie Video browser and is available to use in any project.*

I knew there had to also be away to use these videos clips in another project.
Take a look at the help section... It's not to long a could be read in less than 30 minutes.
