Replacing Keyboard for PowerBook G4 (15-inch 1.67/1.5GHz) computers

I cannot find any doc on replacing keyboard for PowerBook G4 (15-inch 1.67/1.5GHz) computers. All docs I see are for older models and are not applicable. Suggestions?

I had that issue once. I knocked the "Y" key loose. If you take your PB to an Apple store, and ask politely (and ask the right person), they may be able to find a key in back for you.

When i broke the y key, it was a small clip on the back of the key itself that broke - not the key board. He was able to simply take a key from a spare keyboard (which may have been from a previous repair - it's apparently not a standard thing they keep around) and snap it on! The best thing is that he didn't charge me a penny!

If the board is broken, than you have a major issue. You'll have to send it in, and when i talked to apple, they said that such accidents are not covered by warranty (or apple care), and you have to pay for a new board, and the service. It came to around $300, if i remember correctly.

Before you do anything, go see a genious. It could be as simple as putting on a spare key!

Yep, MacService is awesome. They have prices right on the website. You can e-mail them with any question, and get an answer the next day. Their keyboards are $125, and $45 for the service. Free ground shipping, unless you do overnight, in which case it's $49. They use DHL Logistics for shipping, and that only takes a couple of days, depending on your location. They also do work on iPods, and they do upgrades.
