I can't transfer videos to itunes.

I am trying to transfer a few .mov files onto iTunes (version 6.0.1), and then onto my iPod, but nothing seems to work. No videos will transfer to iTunes. I have tried dragging the files to the iTunes library but they don't show up. So, how do I get these files onto iTunes?

I don't have QuicktimePro so I can't export from there either. Is that the only way?

What am i doing wrong?!?! Help!!

eMac, Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Snoochy,

I've been successful in transferring music videos from purchased enhanced CDs into iTunes. From the desktop window containing the .mov (or whatever filetype) file, drag and drop that file icon onto the iTunes icon in your Mac's Dock. That will add that file to your iTunes library.

If your iPod is the new 5th gen iPod which can play Video content, you must have QuickTimePro if you want the video file to be transferred to your iPod. Then in QuickTimePro, open the video file, do a File/Export. In the next dialog box, in the Export dropdown list, select "Movie to iPod (320x240)" and click on Save. Warning: The process takes a long time depending on your file size etc. I tried a 4 minute video file on a 2.1Ghz iMac and it took over 30 minutes to convert!

Or... if you want only the audio content of your video... e.g., if your iPod cannot play videos, you need to convert your video to an audio format after it has been added to your library. Click on the video in your library, then select from the Advanced menu, "Convert Selection to AAC" which will create an audio-only copy of your video in your library. After you have created this audio-only file, you can transfer this new music file to your iPod.
