Video iPod shuts off randomly while watching videos

I just got a 60gb Video iPod for Christmas. I downloaded The Office (pilot) episode and the iPod has so far shut off twice randomly while watching the video. I've tried re-watching the episode and it'll get past the parts it shut off at. The shut downs appear completely random. It has also shut off at least once when watching the "Lost" pilot I downloaded. When it shuts off, it just goes to a black screen with the Apple logo on it, sits there for about 5 seconds and then goes to a menu.

I have the hold switch set so I know it's not a button getting hit accidently.

Is this a bug in the video iPod? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks & Merry Christmas

When this happens, it's usually one of three things:
1. A bad video file (make sure it plays fine in iTunes).
2. The iPod's battery is near empty (make sure it's fully charged - the battery symbol has to show a lightning bolt and flash green, otherwise it's not charging properly).
3. There's a problem with the iPod itself. Try the instructions in iPod 101:

If none of this helps, you may have a bad iPod.

My 60GB video iPod does the exact same thing, although it doesn't limit the random shut-offs to videos; it also does it while I'm listening to music. I've often had it sitting on the desk next to me, completely untouched, and it's turned itself off in the middle of a song or movie. It's unrelated to battery life, because it's been well charged each time. I'm desperate for an answer to this, not only because it's inconvenient, but because I paid a premium for what I hoped would be a quality product.
