How to transport the iMac by car

Hello everyone,

I need to transport my mac by car tomorrow and can't just lump it into the box it came in because it's too big.

Does anyone have any tips or key points for moving the machine? It's a 17 inch model. (I am considering buying an iLugger, but can't get one right now).

Thanks for your help!

Happy holidays.

Hello fintan:

I just moved both my iMacs (G4 and G5) by car. Although it was a short distance, I was very careful. I used towels to cushion and wrap the Macs so the screen was not scratched in any way. In my case, I placed the Macs face down on the rear seat and used more towels to prevent movement. All the ancillary 'toys' (mouse, KB, cables, firewire drive, etc) were packed carefully in a separate box.

Everything survived my homemade moving very well. I have moved Macs over longer distances (packed in the same homemade fashion) and had no damage.
