I figured that my problems were from a virus.....so I have spent all of the day cleaning up and getting rid of any virus problems or cookies that could be messing things up.

I did try re-install the program and I did notice something this time around. When it was loading the Quicktime portion of the program it stopped and a box came up saying: "Quicktime installation failed. Error Code: -3"

The only thing I could do is click OK. Well after that it actted like it loaded just fine and the desktop icon came up. But when I click on it I get the "....problem and needs to close."

What's the deal Apple? Help us out here.

go to the downloads section on the apple website and download itunes all over again. it will go through the whole thing with you and it will also set up quicktime. i tried this after i read your message and it worked like a charm. i think maybe our CDs with the intial downloading was messed up. i almost threw a hissy fit myself. but always remember that apple makes things easy. it is ALWAYS user friendly. so never fear, any reasonable person can solve problems with apple software. it's microsoft that will make you homicidal. if that doesn't work then make sure that you have service pack 2 on XP or higher.

I just re-did everything and I'm having the exact same problem. I still got the error in the middle of the quicktime load and I'm still not able to pull up itunes at all. I understand what you are saying about apple being user friendly.....but that aint the case for my first venture with them. This is God awful. Last night I got on here and tried my best to get some answers from someone about either getting itunes to work or how to put music on here without using itunes.......and I got nothing but attitude. So as of right now I have a very slick looking $300 solitare game. This is a joke. Will please someone help me out here.

I just fixed my Itunes. It was flashing for a brief second, and just wouldn't come up. Write this down.

Go to "start"
click "run"
type msconfig
click "ok"
select "general" tab
select "selective startup"
de-select "load startup items"
click "startup" tab
select "itunes helper" and "qtask"
click "services"
make sure "hide all microsoft services" is selected
click "disable all"
select "ipod service" checkbox in the list
click "ok"
click "restart"
Hope this helps!

I have noticed on this board as well as numerous others that this itunes problem has been ongoing for at least 6 months. My question is why hasn't Apple released some sort of patch to fix this.

I bought a new computer for my daughter and she has an ipod and now she cannot open itunes. I have repeatedly uninstalled, reinstalled, removed NAV, all with no luck. This truly ***** and the customer service on this issue is awful.

Rachyl.....I was not rude to you the other day. I came on a website for something that I just spent $400 on and I have got crap out of it. When I explained my problem to you and told you my situation.....you didn't answer one thing of what I asked. All you wanted to do was promote Apple's itunes that by the way.....seems to be flat out crap since tons of people can't even get on the thing. I've done everything that you said. I have cleaned my computer of any virus that is out there and took care of all cookies or anything else that would cause my computer problems. And guess what.......itunes still will not pull up. So if you are counting I have now had my ipod for 4 days and still not one song has been played on it.

I'm not trying to be rude to you but if you are not going to help me then save me the lecture and let me try to find someone that will. This is Apple right? The company that is so user friendly? Right????

I have itunes loaded...but can't pull it up. HELP!!!!
