IPod has a Lock symbol

IPod has a Lock symbol

I have a new IPod, the ITunes recognizes it, and I have been able to add new songs etc, but once the IPOd says it's ok to disconnect, I get a lock symbol up in the upper left top corner. SO I can't do anything, how do I unlock it?

Compaq, Windows 2000

Do you have the "hold" switch, on the top edge of your iPod, engaged, Beajer?

ok, its easy

go to the top of your ipod, where you plug your earphones, there you'll find a metal bar, move it to the left and voila

No, I tried moving it from hold to off hold, but that didn't do anything either.

By metal bar, do you mean the hold switch. If so it is currently not on hold...still locked. Thx

ok, press and hold the menu and the white button until it resets the ipod

I tried that, the documents say to do that, but it does not work. I hold it for 6 secs, but to no avail. Is there some sort of lock feature within ITunes?
