Is it OK to skip an update but download next one?

Is it a bad for the computer system to skip an update but download next one? I haven't downloaded the security 20005-009 update yet because of some feedback. Can you skip an update, but download the next one without creating any problems to the system?

Hello Eugene:

In answer to your question, yes you can omit an update and then install a subsequent one without problems. Use the software update function - that process will select the correct update (s) for you.

As a general observation, it is (IMHO) good procedure to apply all relevant updates. Apple makes incremental improvements and/or releases 'fixes' with each update. Having said that, there is usually no reason to be the very first one to apply updates (leave that to the pioneers like me!). Read these forums to see if there are significant problems before you update.

As a precaution, repair permissions before applying software updates. One should also have a good backup/retreat procedure 'in case.'
