I am having a problem still with my ports, is there a difference between Port Forwarding and Port Triggering? which one do I do?
Can you tell me exactly which ports to open to be able to chat with a PC in the U.S.A.?
And for the XP user I cant find where to download the "Extra" file for AIM

Thank You for your help

Hi

Port Forwarding takes data from the internet and points it to one Local Net Ip adddress (Coputer)

Port Triggering uses one por to recieve data to then open more ports and can be used by many computers on your LAN.

See September 7th http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/blog.html here for the ports required for the MAc Firewall if On and Port Forwarding

Port Triggering can be done like this for your device http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_triggering/Netopia/Cayman3346/iChat. htm
Ignore the Brown and yellow bits at the top.

Generally it is set up like this
Port 5678 triggers port 5060
Prot 5060 triggers ports 16384-16403

The Netopia is not quite the same as other devices so follow the instructions above.

Ok Tell me what the other device is ?

On the Netopia it will be in the DHCP menu as shown in these pics

The next device will have to be set to use a Static address to the NEtopia if you turn the DHCP server off.
If the next device is the Mac this is done is Sytem Preferences > Network > Connection Method > TCP/IP tab
The drop down is changed to Amnual and you pick an IP address that will be in the smame range as the modem and copy the subnet mask and DNS servers and "Router" IP accross to the new boxes.
