Does anyone know if iTunes music and video can be transferred and played on the PSP (with the 2.6 software version)? I use iTunes exclusively and have just purchased a PSP and would like to carry the iTunes on the PSP. However, once the files are transferred to the PSP, the PSP does not recognize the files. I suspect the protection on iTunes files is preventing the use on the PSP. Can anyone help?
i do not think that the PSP can use itunes...but i purchased the PSP Max Media Manager software at Bestbuy and thats how i put photos and music on mine..but yet there is no way you can use itunes for Sony PSP..only for Apple Ipods.
you can play mp3's and "unprotected" aac music/audio files. you can create a playlist in itunes of whatever music you want, and import the playlist via pspware.
The only way I could get itunes music on my PSP was
to Burn a CD and then re-import them as
mp3's. eMac 1.25 and (Power Mac G4) Mac OS X (10.4.2) iPod Mini 4GB
Ed,
Could you please explain this process to me. I just started using mac and my son got a PSP for Christmas. The information would be most appreciated.
Well, this is kind of funny because the PSP does support the AAC format. You can't use iTunes to transfer the music, but with a USB cable you can transfer the music yourself.
PSP media managers will make it easier to copy the files, but most of them will convert the files to MP3 which is unnecessary and could affect the quality of the song.
If you want to copy the music to the PSP yourself, copy the music to the \PSP\MUSIC directory on your PSP. If the directories don't exist you can create them, but make sure to use all capitol letters when creating the direcories. Once the music is on your PSP, rename the file extension on each song file from .M4A to .MP4. Once you do this, the songs should appear on the PSP and be playable...
so none tried to buy, let's say, an episode of LOST on the iTMS and transfer it on the PSP to watch it? with all the DRM stuff, i would appreciate if someone could confirm before i click on BUY SEASON!
thanks!

PS: i use PSPware to transfer/convert videos if that can help
Both the 5G iPod and the PSP use the same MP4 format, but it appears they encode the files differently. To be able to play the iPod video on the PSP, you will probably have to reencode (convert) the file to play properly.
I have not been able to find any info about being able to convert DRM video files for the iPod to other formats (but I'm still looking).
I'm also not a MAC guy, so I can't speak specifically to your needs. However, there are some interesting articles in the forums of PSPCrazy.com that talk about converting from DVD to PSP on the MAC. You may want to check out the utilites there to see if they will work for 5G video files...
Have you tried www.pocketmac.net and gotten the
pocket mac download for PSP?
G4 and G3 iMac Mac OS X (10.4.4)
We used pocketmac and successfully downloaded photos and contacts. Also tried to download music from itunes hasn't seemed to work but it has used half of psps memory They must be there somewhere- could you explain how to find music on psp or how to delete to free up memory.
When you hook up your PSP to the computer it should pull up the memory stick on your desktop and from there you can go into it and delete things and drag in things.
