Is there a Typestyler alternative?

I have used my OS9 version of Typestyler to create fantastic logos, headers and just general type styles. I took these into pages and they work fine. Problem is that there is no Mac OSX version, although promised on www.typestler.com.
Is there any other programme that will do similar with the ease of typestyler. please do not say photoshop as this is fine but way too difficult to compare to the super typestyler. BTW I posted here as I just did not see where this questuion could fit.
Many thanks
and a Happy new year from Ireland to all Mac users

I tried both MacUpdate & VersionTracker & got the same request for a password. I'm a bit surprised that both of those sites didn't check the link, but it's not the first time I've had it happen.

But, good news. On the MacUpdate page linked above, I clicked on the More Information link & got this page where I could download the file.

Have you tried FontFX?

Sorry Peggy, guess I did not check properly. I got
the download but it opened as an excel file with just
rubbish text on it.

It appears there's some minor corruption with your copy of Mac OS X in that it's choosing to open files with the wrong application.

The FontFX program is distributed as an .dmg file. That is, a disk image file. It should be opened by the DiskImageMounter application.

You can force "FontFX7 v1.4.dmg" file to be opened by the DiskImageMounter application. From the Finder, click this file once to select it. Now choose the Finder's File > Get Info menu item. Locate the Open with section in the Get Info window and change the this from Excel to DiskImageMounter.

According to Marion Stilman of Typestyler, a new OSX
version is on the way????

The problem is they've been saying that since Mac OS X was released. For years I've seen their adverts on various web sites saying 'a Mac OS X version is on the way'. If it ever gets rewritten for Mac OS X it must certainly have the distinction of being the absolutely last program to make it to Mac OS X!

I haven't visited their web site lately, but I'd seriously recommend using another program for this purpose unless Marion can give you a solid release date in the near future.

I'll be thorn in your side and suggest Photoshop Elements. : ) Elements interface is easier than photoshop and many of the text effects are a one step process. Text on a Path is another thing Elements does very well. Elements also has a great 'save for web' feature which makes it easy to slim down your graphics for web work. Typestyler files are huge. I used Typestyler for some time and really liked the concept and ease of use but Elements gave me an image editor, animation creator as well as a type effect app... all in one. To me, it was worth the learning curve.
