Pioneer DVD-RW DVR – 104 problems

I use a Dual 500MHz Power PC G4 with an integral Pioneer DVD-RW DVR – 104 with DVD Player 4.0, Toast 6 Titanium and Popcorn 1.0 installed but the system fails to recognise any DVD (either blank or pre-recorded) that I insert. The drive will however recognise a CD.

I have checked on the Pioneer website and it suggests that my driver is OK as it is Revision A227.

Would be grateful if anyone has got any suggestions please as to how to rectify this problem.

The drive may be no good, but you might try dismantling & manually cleaning the drive lens, which has made a difference for some users, before you replace the drive.

If you need to replace it, ND-3550A or DVR-110D can be had for under $40 online, try newegg.com. Search discussions for numerous threads on either, if you want more info.
