The Nano doesn't have a hard drive, it has flash memory.

hey when you went to best buy what do u tell them happened did u actually tell them the truth or did u just say that it all of a sudden stopped working lol? and did u have like xtra special warranty?
  • megabyte5689 Level 1 Level 1 (45 points)
Is it repairable, please tell me what to do. I
tripped and it fell in the sink for about 6 seconds.
I quickly pulled it out. The Music works. The click
wheel movement like play, pause, fastforward, rewind,
menu, up, down, and left to right does not work.

I don't know how you tripped and dropped it in the sink, but my guess is as long as the LCD isn't cracked you are covered under Apple's warranty. But first leave the Nano sitting for about 1 week or 2, then try it, if it doesn't work send it in to Apple. They will send you a refurbished Nano, that is if they deem that this damage is covered under the warranty, if not you buy a new nano if you wish to.

Its is quite rediculous how Apple does not cover this
sort of COMMON mistake, what if it fell off your
cheap lanyard, into the snow or a puddle. Then what
Apple? I read your disclaimer... You don't cover-
"Damage to the Covered Equipment caused by accident,
    abuse, neglect, misuse (including faulty
installation, repair, or maintenance by anyone other
than Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider),
    unauthorized modification, extreme environment
(including extreme temperature or humidity), extreme
physical or electrical stress or interference,
fluctuation or surges of electrical power, lightning,
static electricity, fire, acts of God or other
    external causes;"

So are you trying to say that I spent $59.00 for
nothing? I mean my cell phone dropped into the
toilet, and they replaced it free of charge! Come
on, I didn't spend $200.00 for nothing folks...
    Anyone agree?

I agree with you, but anyone who is interested in purchasing any type of electronics need to read the fine print. Cell phone companies are very, very generous in replacements. Another thing that lanyard is not cheap, it is like $50.00 or something, and a little knoweledge of the laws of physics will help to, before you go purchasing the nano lanyard, it's obvious that the nano is quite easy to fall off.

I read a while ago about some Australian dropping his mini in water or something. He opened it up and had to go to the hospital because of fumes or something....

    Back that is off topic...

Believe it or not, I dropped my ipod in a cup of water sitting in the middle console of my car. It sat there for a couple of minutes before I realized where I had placed it.

Afterwards, I tried to turn it on but it would do nothing. Last night, I placed it on my heater vent to dry it out and then plugged it into my computer, but nothing happened.

It was in the water for a few good minutes, and I tried to turn it on afterwards. Is there any hope in holding out and trying it in a couple of weeks, or should I just take it it?

The same thing happened to mine! Except I was just playing basketball at a park...then it started raining. and my iPod was in my bad. a error thing came up....then it just was a blank screen....then everytime i pressed a button it would make a click sound.....and now the screen is like it should be when its off....i pluged it into my pc not knowing what to do...is it doomed?!? I'm gonna cry. i unpluged it...but do i have to let it sit there?!? HELP!
  • rewep Level 1 Level 1 (5 points)
Let it sit for like a week, don't touch it, don't play with it, don't check it out to see if it works now. Just leave it alone. After about a week give the battery a good charge and try to turn it back on, it might still work. If it was turned on when it got wet though you're probably pretty much SOL, that's almost sure to short citcuit it and cause something to break.

i i agree totaly apple should take responsibility for their prouducts or make an iPod water resistant and make them like 3 dollars more so u can drop it any where and it will servive
