Ipod dropped in water, Is it repairable

Is it repairable, please tell me what to do. I tripped and it fell in the sink for about 6 seconds. I quickly pulled it out. The Music works. The click wheel movement like play, pause, fastforward, rewind, menu, up, down, and left to right does not work.

Its is quite rediculous how Apple does not cover this sort of COMMON mistake, what if it fell off your cheap lanyard, into the snow or a puddle. Then what Apple? I read your disclaimer... You don't cover- "Damage to the Covered Equipment caused by accident, abuse, neglect, misuse (including faulty installation, repair, or maintenance by anyone other than Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider), unauthorized modification, extreme environment (including extreme temperature or humidity), extreme physical or electrical stress or interference, fluctuation or surges of electrical power, lightning, static electricity, fire, acts of God or other external causes;"

So are you trying to say that I spent $59.00 for nothing? I mean my cell phone dropped into the toilet, and they replaced it free of charge! Come on, I didn't spend $200.00 for nothing folks... Anyone agree?

Since this is so common, how many other warranties can you spow me which will cover accidents/abuse, etc?
Not for your television, stereo, car, watch, lawn mower, etc. Maybe yes for prescription sunglasses. Generally, they are an insurance policy, not a warranty. (Look up the words Warranty and Insurance)

When you buy the $2500 extended warranty on your $35,000 new car, it does not cover you smashing into a bridge.
Your cell phone warranty specifically covers loss or damage due to negligence, accident, abuse, misuse, stupidity, etc.

Yes it is repairable but I don't think Apple will cover it. To repair it , put on the second warmest room of your house and let sit and dry while its off. If you really want to save your ipod (Not reconmended if you have no experience with electronic repair) open your ipod , don't touch anything and remove battery , let the open ipod dry for 2 days in a warm area (not too warm). After it's done , place the battery back on , close the ipod and recharge the battery and try to use the ipod. Hope this helps.

Ok I see your point, but with the car thing hehe, my car is covered so that if i get into an accident, I recieve the same amount of cash value I paid for my vehicle, ($38,000) towards a new car. That's a good thing.. I guess I am just surprised with how small, the iPod is and how suspectible it is to damage. Especially water damage, and it is not covered. I can see how they would not cover deliberate abuse etc... But whatever...

I just found out that most insurance companies offer a, I think its called a "Personal Property" policy, that is like 100 bucks a year that covers basically every stupid you could ever do to anything you own. Including your ipod falling off the roof of your house, tripping over your powerbook cable and pulling it off of the desk, shattering the LCD, backing your car over your television when your moving, and about anything else you can think of.

I was actually amazed at some of the scenarios that I threw at my agent and she said it would be covered.

Good information to have. It's different than homeowner's insurance, and I don't think there is a deductable.

Especially awesome if you run with your iPod and could easily loose or drop it.

You really can't remove the battery pack when it is soldered in.
