Hold Button....

for some reason here @ work I can't open the manual for the Video iPod. What is the Hold Button for. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having problems with this wonderful device. Does the DO NOT DISCONNECT mean that the ipod is worrking????????
I read where some people had to install drivers, still download itunes update and should connect after you open itunes. Oh! how do you know if your USB is 2.0 or not. Sorry. I just don't know. Please Help.

Thanks

Stacey - the "hold" button disables all the wheel & buttons on the front of the iPod. Useful for when the iPod is in a pocket or backpack - it prevents an accidental bump of a button from activating the iPod or changing a setting if it's already on & playing.

"Do not Disconnect" generally means that the computer is actively talking with the iPod. That can mean
- iTunes is updating songs on the unit
- the iPod is set for "disk usage"

Ejecting the iPod from iTunes (click the little gray up arrow next to the iPod entry in iTunes) should clear the message and let it go back to either the "Charging" display or the regular menu. It may take 30 seconds or so to complete the eject process.
