Nikon Picture Project with iPhoto

I recently purchased a Nikon digital camera. It came with a Nikon Picture Project CD which I never installed. Is Picture Project basically the same as iPhoto and do I really need it? I didn't want to install P.P. thinking maybe it was incompatible with iPhoto 5. Anyone know if P.P. has something additional that iPhoto doesn't have or should I just not install?
Thanks for anyone's help.

Ron,

You do not have to install Picure Project, as you can connect toyour mac via the USB cable that came with your camera, however if you the camera has WiFi capability, the Piture Project application is the only way (that I know of) that you can use the WiFi feature. iphoto will not recognize the WiFi transfer. If you don't have that, or don't sue it, than no need to install the Nikon Picture Perfect application.

I hope that iphoto will soon be able to recognize the WiFi feature from my new Nikon Coolpix...
