Welcome to Apple Discussions.

These instructions no longer appear to be available at Information Appliance Associates support site, but you can do this to remove PocketMac completely from iSync:

To manually remove PocketMac plugins from iSync in Tiger, here is what you do:

• navigate to the iSync application in your Applications folder
• right-click or control-click on iSync, and choose Show Package Contents
• open the Contents folder
• open the Plugins folder
• locate the Plugin named PM, Entourage or PocketMac that you want to delete, but be sure to leave the other conduit.syncdevice folders alone
• drag the folder or folders you want to remove to the Trash, then empty it

Why their uninstall option does not perform these steps is beyond me…

Hello All,

Not sure if this is the proper place to post this; but it is a PocketMac issue, and related to whether (or how) it's installation effects ISync functionality.

Here is my story;

1. Bought PocketMac with the intention of syncing my O2 Mini with my Mac (June 2005).

2. Sync'd happily for some weeks. Then my O2 Mini got stolen (August 2005).

3. A few months passed by, and I decided to go for a Nokia 6680 (March 2006), which, among other things, has native support of ISync.

4. Using Bluetooth Assistant, managed to add 6680 to ISync showing 3 services supported (Sync, Addressbook, BT Modem).

5. Although ICal entries synced, however, I noticed right away that Address Book entries were not my current entries, and looked suspiciously old and out of date. Then it dawned on me that these were my old O2 Mini entries!

6. Well..! Logically, I thought, these entries must be coming from a Pocket Mac program cache somewhere, because I certainly don't have the O2 Mini anymore, and ISync did show syncing being suspiciously done with a "Pocket Mac Device".

7. I thought that if somehow I could remove the effects of the Pocket Mac program, it would not "get in the way" of ISync, and all should be solved.

8. This is where it took 2 days of, resetting devices, removing and adding 6680 repeatedly, writing to Pocket Mac support on how to completely remove Pocket Mac, and "discovering" how to remove it from ISync interface; some notable events and observations;

a) When resetting "...all Devices..." from ISync menu, I now found no more contact entries at all on my 6680, not even the old ones from O2 Mini. (cache was cleared?)

b) Before resetting the Pocket Mac device in ISync, I distinctly remember seeing the multiple groups I used to use on O2 Mini, besides "All Contacts", in the pull-down menu of 6680 ISync settings for synchronizing Contacts. After I reset the Pocket Mac device, all these groups disappeared except for "All Contacts" from the pull-down menu. (cache was cleared?)

c) After un-installing PocketMac, but not removing the PocketMac icon in ISync, my Bluetooth Assistant would crash before adding 6680 to ISync. Sometimes, it would not show Sync services while trying to add the phone.

d) After "discovering" how to remove the PocketMac device and icon from ISync, BT Asst stopped crashing, and I could finally add my 6680 with all the 3 services (Sync, Address Book, and BT Modem).

9. However, although Address Book services (SMS, Calls, etc), ICal sync were working (did not get chance to test BT Modem), Address Book sync is still NOT working. It seems as if ISync is completely OBLIVIOUS to the existence of Address Book, and that it is supposed to sync with it!

10. I have writen again to Pocket Mac support about an explanation and help, but I am not sure if I will get one.

11. Do you think that Pocket Mac installation did any other changes that had effected the way ISync would sync with Address Book directly? Because, it seems that something between them is missing.

Can you help me find what is wrong and fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, but I think Michael's post addresses only one problem of Pocket Mac.

I am still not able to sync my Address Book contacts with my Nokia 6680.

Although I have not purchased a .Mac subscription, I feel that this should not be required for this sync to happen.

It seems to me that ISync does not recognize Address Book, or realize that it is supposed to sync with it. I suspect that it might have something to do with how Pocket Mac installs itself or uninstalls itself. (see details of my earlier post above.)

Isn't ISync supposed to sync all contacts from Address Book, with or without a .Mac subscription?

Can anyone please help?
