slowing connection - is it due to bluetooth?

hi all - this is driving me mad! my bt internet is very slow - downloads begin around 100 and sharply drop as the download continues...

any ideas? my other computers are fine and do not suffer this way - is there any truth in the bluetooth slowing things down?

all help appreciated

Guys,

I have the similar problem too. I just got a new set of wireless BT mouse and keyboard, and everything was fine until I go online. After a few experiments by turning the BT on and off, and clicking on the same link on Safari, I am pretty sure the BT is the problematic area. I even have the another computer right next to my IMAC G5 to make sure the network signal is good and strong. The result is the same: once i turn on the BT, the internet goes nowhere.

I am not sure it is a hardware related problem or it is a frequency problem. I double check many times, and there is no connection problem. Seem like the RF is interferencing each other ( i have wireless G network, Netgear WGT 624 router). I play with few different settings of the BT; but the result is the same.

Any one of you expert out there know what's going on, please let me know. Thanks a ton in advance!

All, I've got a similar problem with internet downloads, they are extremely slow and I too have a BT keyboard and mouse but i'm using a wifi wireless conncection . The IMAC is connected using a wireless router (dlink). I've been around the block on this issue a couple of times. I thought it had been resolved by changing my network settings but it seems to have resurfaced. Any insight on how to optimize download speeds would be greatly appreciated (2 mb files taking upwards of 1hr).

Guys,

OK.... i find the way to 'avoid' the problem; but I still can't totally resolve it. I add an additional wrieless access point (which is my printer server, NETGARE), and disable my build-in airport. It work nicely without too much of the slow down. It is not super fast, IMO; but it is acceptable (like a nomal DSL speed). So... I think we can conclude that the conflict comes WITHIN the IMAC itself between the BT and AirPort. Mine solution is exactly a solution, since I am only avoiding the problem. I really don't want to see an additional piece of hardware flowing aorund my desk; plus, man, you pay for it (build-in airport) already, why wasted it???

I will call mac support tomorrow. I will keep you guys posted.

Happy new year.
