ipod shuffle not showing in my computer

I have the same problem everyone else and none of the antidotes or fixes seem to work for me. My ipod shows up in the device manager as an ipod but shows as other device. Also the ipod doesnt show in my computer at all. I keep getting a cant "find driver" but yet I have the drivers in system32 I meet all the requirments and my USB ports work fine. I know these are the right drivers because I downloaded my ipod on my parents pc{which is the same as mine} and everything worked fine. Somehow the USB ports are not directed to get the driver or the path has changed. Should reinstall my operating system(windows xp home)??? Please help

My computer supports two Shuffles (but not at the same time). When they're plugged-in they don't show up in "My Computer" but in the Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager they're recognized simply as "Apple iPod USB Device" with no driver installed. They, nonetheless, work just fine and are recognized by iTunes in its Source List. I wouldn't worry too much if your computer has a problem recognizing your Shuffle -- the important thing is to get it working with iTunes.

When your Shuffle is plugged in and recognized by iTunes (a little up-arrow to the right of its name), press the Options button at the bottom of the iTunes screen (the leftmost of four buttons) and make sure that the option "Keep this iPod in the Source List" is selected. While you're at it, I'd suggest that you also deselect "Open iTunes when this iPod is plugged in" -- this way iTunes doesn't launch if you plug your Shuflle in just to charge it.
