Applications folder was changed to kind: package. How do I change to folder

I was trying to work around Mac OS Error code-50 by using terminal to copy files from one mac to another. It somehow changed my Applications folder to a package and wants me to pick an application to open my Applications folder. I do not know how to change it back to a folder, in Mac OS X's eyes. I can open it in Terminal and navigate. Permissions appear to be correct.

There was a long discussion about this awhile back. You can do a search on it if you want (having used the new Discussions search, I'm not inclined to do so, but feel free). I don't remember the conclusion, but it seems to me this ought to work:

1. Create a new folder, leave it untitled
2. Control click on your Applications folder and select Show Package Contents
3. A new window opens with the contents of your Application folder
4. Select all and drag them to your untitled folder
5. Trash the old Applications folder and rename the untitled folder Applications
6. Launch Disk Utility and Repair Permissions

That ought to do it.
