Printing using Mail - Vertical printing over several pages error

Hi All.

Wonder if anyone can help here?

When I want to print any email from Mail, for some odd reason the email gets spread out over several pages or more depending on the size of the email. The text is printed in one vertical line consisting of one letter per line, like this:
t
h
i
s

i
s

h
o
w

I have to copy and paste each email into text edit and print from there.

If anyone can help, that would be great.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Ernie

Yes, its an odd one, but its happened to the guy above and to my colleague.

OK, here's the page set-up settings:

Setup: Page Attributes
Format: Any printer
Paper Size: A4
Orentation: Portrait
Scale: 100%

We are trying to print to a HP 5si MX laser printer and a Canon S9000 inkjet.

I should point out that all our machines print fine to these printers when we use other apps, we just have probs when using Mail.

Just for info too, we are using Mac OSX 10.3.9 running Mail 1.3.11

Thanks

Steve,

Check to see it you have the choice of the specific printer, rather than the Any Printer setting in Page Setup. If so, select, and let me know if the problem continues.

In general special functions do not work with printers that are networked, but there is nothing special about printing an email. In my case, I only have a printer connected directly to one Mac, but can access via Printer Sharing from other Macs for basic printing needs, such as emails.

More info, please.

Ernie...yes, I have the choice of both thr printers, but even when i selected says the HP laser, the same issue happens.....i am starting to wonder if its not a printer issue, and more of an issue with Mail, a preference or something????
It kinda looks like to me a forced return after each letter, and then every 3 letters as the email deepens....if you get what i mean?

Steve,

Prepare and send a message, taking care to compose and send with only Plain Text, and then test printing that. If you need to test a message from a different source, click on my name and find my email address in the bio line.

Open one of the messages this has happened with, and examine by clicking on View and placing the cursor on Message, and choosing Raw Source. This might show you any control characters are present in unexpected places.

Hi Steve,
I have the same problem with the text in Mail printing very narrow like what you described. Did you ever get a resolution to the problem?

It seems like it was never answered in the forum replies.

Hope you can help out if possible.
