Shortcut to run the slideshow, pleeease!

My most frequently used command in iPhoto is not exporting, importing, but running the slideshow. Afterall, in iPhoto there isn't any other way than a slideshow to view your photos in full screen, right? Even if there was no shortcut for the slideshow, I could set it in the system preferences, but the only command in iPhoto that doesn't even have a menu item is none else than the slideshow!

Please give me a hint, how to be more quick and not have to each and every time search for that little play button in the corner. Please.

Oh, and by the way, I did try Option-Clicking the play, which at least, for goodness sake, skips the dialog that comes up since iPhoto 5 posing yet another obstacle to immediately view photos readily in full screen.

Hi meny,
Select the Album you want, then hit the Desktop icon on the toolbar. this will open System preferences where that slideshow is chosen as the screensaver.
I have my summer 2005 album chosen for my screensaver. Now I set up one corner of my desktop to move my cursor to and have my photos run in full screen for my slideshow whenever I want to see them just by moving my cursor to that corner.
I don't know if this is what you want, but that's how I do it when I don't want to open iPhoto to see my latest photos.

No, what I need is simply to view photos full screen!

..but since there is no other way than to use a slideshow (the little play button) in iPhoto and I'm stubborn enough and Apple fan enough to stick to iPhoto I end up always having to go for that button. It's really slow, annoying, and just playin inconvenient. My Peezee colleagues just hit enter and page down through their collection of photos in full screen... I'm basically only looking for a keyboard shortcut to run the slideshow.

The first thing that comes to mind is Quickeys. It's my most important application/utility. If you go to VersionTracker.com and do a search for "key macro" you'll find a number of possible applications for creating a key macro to run the slideshow. Also have you considered trying to set up a simple Automator workflow?

Thank you for your tips, Old Toad. Could you please elaborate a little bit on how I would assign a quickkey to something that doesn't exist as a menu item? If that's possible, it's quite interesting. Of course, it will probably take up a little bit of RAM and resources.

Also, how on earth could I do something like I want with the cute little Automator?

One more thing. It just occurred to me, there could possibly be a way with AppleScript. That way it would be IN the menu as well, and system could handle the shortcut.

Quickeys is an application which can make complex tasks run with one keystroke. For menus, whether they have a keystroke assigned or not, the application to told to looks for the menu by name and execute it. Of it create a cursor action which moves the cursor to the button of choice and clicks on it. This is how Quickeys works. Other apps probably work similarly. They can read the code and go from there.
