Audio CD Won't mount?

Recently purchased audio CD (Robbie Williams-Intensive Care).

When placed in tray, two or three spins a couple of clicks, then it spits it out.

Works fine on CD player and also on my ancient PC. I assume the problem is connected with copy protection.

Is there any answer to this? I want to transfer tunes to my iPod. I know I could rip it on the PC and burn a disc that isn't copy protected, but would prefer it if it just worked!!

Does it have the Copy Control logo that appears on this Wiki entry? If not, then it isn't a copy protection problem. Anyway, I am unaware of any current copy protection mechanism that works on Macs, with the exception of the Sony rootkit releases (that, on Macs, require you to explicitly authorize the installation of the protection software).

It could simply be a defective disc--different drives can have different tolerances for defects. My copy of the New Pornographers Mass Romantic for example, refuses to mount in my Powerbook, but works fine in my older PowerMac. If this is the case, then I would just ask for a replacement from wherever you bought it.
