I too am having a verrry horriable experience trying to uninstall Quicktime. My OS is windows XP pro. The Add Remove will not uninstall Quick time. It says that it is unstalled but it isn't. I ran a file search and found 6 mg. of it located in c:\windows\system32\quicktime.qts. None of my downloaded avi files will open. I even still get a popup that says that mime plugins are associated with other applications and do I want to restore them. I don't know what to do. All I want to do is get all of Quicktime off my computer and start of fresh with an updated verson that works. Someone pleaseeeeeeeeeeee help me, and everybody else out there that is having the same problem, and I am sure there are others.

I have a similar problem. I have tried to install QT 7 but it says it can't uninstall the old version (6.5.2) I have removed QT 6.5.2 using Add/Remove, manually removing any folders/files left behind and then running a registry cleaner. After all of this I reboot and try to install version 7 and gives me the same error - cannot uninstall the older version.

I have also tried this procedure in Safe Mode less the reboot and the installation falies.

I hope Apple moderates this forum and supplies and answer.
