Stolen iPod

I just had my 40Gb B&W iPod (generation before color, Gen4?) stolen >.<

So I have a couple of questions.

1. When the thief connects it to their iTunes, will iTunes recognise the iPod as new and wipe it?
2. Does the iPod store any kind of connection information about the original owner?

I do realise that it is not Apple's responsibility to do anything about this theft, I'm just wondering if Apple will know that an iPod is not being connected to the original owner's iTunes.

Many thanks for your time.<br>

Sorry to hear about your iPod.

". When the thief connects it to their iTunes, will iTunes recognise the iPod as new and wipe it"

Not necessarily. It depends what the thief does with it.

" Does the iPod store any kind of connection information about the original owner?"

Not unless you have something stored on the iPod under 'contacts' or 'notes' containing personal info. The iPod doesn't store personal info when you first register it.

"I'm just wondering if Apple will know that an iPod is not being connected to the original owner's iTunes."

No, Apple would have no way whatsoever of knowing this, there is no way to 'track' iPods this way.

Let's just hope that the thief, in his/her rush to connect the stolen iPod to a computer, falls over and breaks his/her neck. : )
