Suggestions for Updates to Apple Communities.

This will be a work-in-progress that I'll update as needed.

1. Bring back the "previous" & "next" navigation buttons at the top and bottom of the THREADS.

2. Bring back the link to questions we've posted. It could go in the "Your Stuff" drop-down.

3. Bring back the poster's location under their alias. As an International board, it helps to know where the poster is located. An answer that works on a U.S. machine may not work on a German, or even, British machine.

4. Need "Preview" button in post composing window.

I know I will have to get used to some things. And some things that appear to be problematic now will sort themselves out. I'm also fairly certain, judging from past experience, that recommendations like Romad's above will never be implemented.

My first impression: the new way does not make life here easy. I will get more specific later when I begin to assimilate what all of this means. For now I am discouraged.

I'm certain there will be many more comments from others to follow.

But whatever it is, I think we are stuck with it.

WZZZ & romad --

Those of us who were here are all grimacing, remembering what we went through with the "Old" "New" system.

Many of us were hysterical. The biggest difference overall, was that AD was Off freakin Line for well over a week. It would come back briefly, and finally open up, and then take 5 minutes to get to a forum. Posting often quit Safari.

I'm impressed that they have this all working (in that we can ask questions, post answers) after being down only a little over 12 hours, instead of a week or more.

Nevertheless, I'm going to be frustrated, because I knew the old system so like the back of my hand, which I'm sure is true for you, as well.

I'm going to stick with it for a while, and see if I can get the hang of it better with use.

Hope you guys do, as well.

We might be stuck with it for a while, but now that they've gotten away from Jive perhaps changes can be made more easily. Things like including a location in the profile popup or adding a message preview to reduce a bunch of scrolling around should be easier to manage (well, one would hope so, anyway).

Now, if I can figure out what this button d

It just doesn't show up in the threads automatically any more.

Which is a giant step in the wrong direction. Often, knowing a user's location is important. For instance, if someone is in a country with no Apple Stores, advising them to visit one would be of no help. In the old style Discussions, you could see location info at a glance in a long topic, & sometimes this made it clear that an issue was location related.

Now we would have to click ourselves silly & manage multiple pages to get that info.
