Using 10.6.7, & tried to download the recent Safari 5.05 update, but all the links take me to:

Also, tried to edit information about my system, and drop down menu for OS does not include 10.6.7!

Go to Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies. Delete all Apple cookies.
Relaunch Safari.
Then click here; http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1070

When, I recently updated to 10.6.7 (combo) from the Apple site, I had no problems.

Since Apple has so thousands of support pages, deleting cookies can help avoid problems like this in the future. Emptying the Safari more often can help also.
Option + Command + E on your keyboard.
