Where to purchase a Performa MB?

I'm looking for a working motherboard for a Performa 200. I haven't seen any on EBAY. Does anyone know of a dealer that may have these? Thanks!

Hi Ken,

Before going farther, can you briefly describe the problems you have that have led you to a search for a replacement board? I only ask because, with some Macs, seemingly insurmountable problems can turn out to be small ones when the community here throws their experience at it. Worth a shot.

I can also safely predict that someone will join in with the statement that a working P200 is not resellable for the cost of a replacement logic board. Although that is true, some of us keep old Macs running for the fun and learning experience; price is secondary. My point is, if you are like me and enjoy tinkering, ignore the "it ain't worth it" responses that often show up in threads like this

"Nuff said--on to finding parts!

There are two on-line resellers who always seem to end up with parts for older Macs. Sun Remarketing has a P200 logic board listed for US$50.

Shreve Systems has a lot of parts but I did not see anything on their web site tonight. Might be worth a call or e-mail to check.

FWIW, I've never done business with either firm so cannot vouch for their credibility as venders. Both have been around a long time, so that's a good thing in their favor.

Tip: When web-searching for used/pulled boards, keep in mind that Mac boards are more commonly called "logic boards;" the term "motherboard" is used more for Dark Side machines. Using logic board as the search term should point to more Mac parts.

The best of luck in your search.

That Performa is the same as the Mac Classic II 4/80, according to a chart in the Apple memory guide. It takes max 10 MB memory, so it will always be severely limited.

You should use this as an opportunity, nay an omen -- that it is now time to replace this Mac. I suggest a beige G3 at under US$100 on eBay. It will move you into the realm of the PowerPC without obsoleting most of your Applications or peripherals.
