Connect to a local server whilst using VPN

I have SABnzbd+ running on my MBP.

Since my Linksys WAG320N router supports NAT Loopback, I can connect to it's web UI using my local IP, 192.168.0.2 OR my ISP-assigned static IP, 72.xxx.xxx.xxx.

However when I'm connected to the VPN, using OpenVPN & Viscosity, I can't connect to the SABnzbd+ server on either address.

I tried setting up DynDNS with their auto-updater, and using a host name instead of IP address, still no luck.

I use SABnzbd+ as an example, it's the same problem with ANY locally runnining server (uTorrent UI, etc).

Yes, I ticked the box for "Send all traffic"

If the SAB-whatever daemon is running on the same machine you connect from, try addressing it as "localhost". If not, I suggest you deselect the "send all traffic" option.

Sorry, I was clear - I can connect from within my network using the local IP (192.x.x.x), but when I'm away from my home network I can't connect, presumably because the IP 77.x.x.x can't be found, because I'm using the VPN.

If I deselect "Send all", how can I then choose what *is* sent over the VPN?

Is your router the VPN endpoint you connect to? If so, then this is a router configuration issue.

I use the built in VPN for company access. However, by default it "sends all packets to VPN route", which I do not like. I put together a script to set only the networks I need to go through that route using the "route add" comment. I set my default route whatever my ISP default route is at the time of my connection. This allows me both worlds (vpn connections and internet). Not sure if that helps you or not.

Use VPN on demand, you can set it up using a profile manager tool such as: apple device configurator in the mac app store or use the profile manager in osx server (10.7 or higher)

I think there is a problem with your firewall setting, is it possible you did not forward the ports on your linksys router to the ip of your macbook pro?
