Difficulty activating Facetime on iPad2

When I try to activate Facetime on my iPad2 (iOS 4.3.1 and 4.3.2) using my AppleID and password, I receive an error message saying "Facetime Ativation Could not sign in. Please chack your network connection and try again." There is nothing wrong with the network connection - it is working fine for other applications (Mail, Safari, etc). Any suggestion what may be the problem here?

I thought the whole point of the technology behind Facetime is that you don't have to worry about opening ports in firewalls for it to work?

Pretty sure he should just be able to sign in and connect.

I would double check and make sure that you are typing your username and password correctly.

Also, I would also think about trying "Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings" on the iPad 2 and seeing if that solves the issue.

I am pretty sure that is a misconception. Firewalls can disrupt the functioning of everything; iChat, iTunes Store, Mac App Store and FaceTime. If it just worked, regardless of Firewalls, can you just imagine the exploits available to hackers and the like!
