If you want to permanently get rid of it you could either go to MacintoshHD>Library>Widgets and just delete it, or, if you have the full installer package for the Intego software I seem to remember there is an uninstaller program included - just select the things you want uninstalled, click on 'uninstall' and that should do it.
It's in the menubar of Virusbarrier X6 > preferences > traffic tab > uncheck the option at the bottom.

Intego actually has a patch for this, but I could not test it due to accidental deletion (some of us are human, it turns out). I have to add that Intego support sent me the patch within 90 minutes of my request. Kudos!
The issue is that the traffic monitor cannot be turned off permanently thru the prefpane: it just reloads on the next boot. This only happens to my iMac, not my two MacBooks. Go figure!
