color profiles not shown on colorsync

Hello...

I have been looking for a solution to this issue for the last 2 weeks without success... may be somebody knows about it ?

Using Mac Os 10.4.11 on an Intel based Mac recently formatted (with the original cd), the color profiles existing on the folder user/library/colorsync or hd/library/colorsync does not appear on the ColorSync utility, under "profiles". So, basicaly, the ColorSync utility does not show any profile by selecting "profiles" and, of course, clicking the little triangle.

As I was not able to see the icc profiles installed with the printer driver on the print dialog on photoshop, I get the profiles on hd/library/printers/epson/inkjet printer/icc profiles, right click on the model and "show content", and then included them in hd/library/application Support/adobe/color/profiles.

By doing this, I´m able to use that profiles printing from photoshop. But I´m not happy at all with the solution, as colorsync is still not working as it must be.

Now, I´m trying to calibrate the monitor. And after calibrating, the profile created on -system preferences---display---color----claibrate-, is not shown under "display profile" on that application. I think this is part of the same problem.

Is there an expert able to give me a hand on this? How can fix it, in order to see the profiles on Colorsync, found them on photoshop and also create display profiles??

No expert here, & no 10.4 on Intel, but did you try the Profile First Aid tab?

How many does it show checking?

And have you use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions on your Hard Drive after every install, then reboot?

Profile First Aid tab shows 1160 profiles verifyed without problems, but still no profiles on "Profiles" Tab.

I have also verifyed disc permissions on idsc utility without success....

Did Verify Permissions show any needed? And if so did you do the Repair Permissions & reboot?

Try creating a new Admin User in the Accounts Pref Pane, log out & into the new one... does it work there?

Wow! Thanks!

Verifying permissions showed somme to be repaired and I already repaired and rebooted wothout success..

But... New Admin User is now able to use Colorsync!!!....

Now... what´s next? Should I delete the old user? Why is this happening, when both users are admin?

OK, we're making progress, it just seems to be some User setting/pref file, trouble is, while most are in the User's Library>Prefs, not all are.

Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.

Then move these files to the Desktop...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.ColorSyncDeviceList.<12 digitHexNumber>.plist

(There may be more than one of the above to move)

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ColorSyncUtility.plist

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ColorSyncCalibrator.plist

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ColorSync.Droplet.plist

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist

Reboot & test.

PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

I repaired permissions on disc utility on safe mode.

Then, some of the files you mention were found, some not, as described below. After booting, no profiles were found on on colorsync. Then, first aid on colorsync shows 1159 profiles witout problems.

I´m still not able to see profiles on colorsync. Any other action?

I made a new user and everything is working fine!!!

I did not find a way to make an "identical user" keeping all the info, so I had just a lot of stuff to set up the new user with all the info & settings.

Useful info (may be for beginners, as me) if somebody will have to do this and doesn't find a better way:

- By deleting the old user I was able to save all the info, as "user.dmg". That was really helpful.

- After deleting the original user from a user "temp", I was able to make a new one with the same name as the original. But the colorsync problem was still there.

- Ical is very easy to recovery. Just replace the folder user/library/application support/iCal

Last question: Is there a way to recovery "Stickies" and "Dashboard" info stored in the old user library?

Make sure no APPs are running, & do Get infos on these files then change rights to the new user.

For Stickies, try finding this file in the old one & replace in the new location...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Stickies.plist

Dashboard...

/Users/YourUserNam/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dashboard.plist
