How do I sync my iphone with outlook calendar
iPhone 4, iOS 4
Connect the phone to your computer. When it appears in iTunes click on it. Then click the Info tab. Check Sync Calendar and choose Outlook from the dropdown.
Then download the manual and read it. This can be very rewarding.
Hello
I could connect to the outlook but not all the calendars sync with iphone 4. some meetings are not added to my iphone 4. also if the meeting invite is cancelled in outlook, this does not update in the iphone4 even after syncing..
any tips on how to handle this? i use Office 2007.thanks
iTunes doesn't even give me the option to select anything under calendars.
I have the same problem, and I sympathise with robertfromraleigh. Note I am using a 3GS iPhone (iOS 6.1.2) and Outlook is on an iMac (OS X v 10.6.8). I tried your pathway already Lawrence (iTunes, select iPhone, Info tab, Sync Calendar...). There's no calendar labelled 'Outlook', but there is one for 'Entourage', 'On my iPad' and one for each category. I tried just selecting 'All calendars' and it didn't work - no calendar events on my iPhone synced across to Outlook.
My desktop is a Mac running Outlook 2011 as well as Entourage on it. I prefer Outlook to Entourage and iCal etc..., but I have read that people cannot sync this Mac-based Outlook with their iPhones. Bummer if true, coz that's the whole idea!
I'm also getting that wonderful thing where recurring events (e.g. birthdays) duplicate/multiply every time you synch so you get 4 or even 15ish entries on the day. Tried several things with no luck so far. Grrrr...
Now I'll follow your condescending (but probably useful) suggestion to read the manual. Which manual would that be by the way? The manual for iPhone, iMac, or Outlook 2011? Or perhaps it is a problem involving iCal (on the iMac) or Entourage?
You cannot sync Outlook 2011 on a Mac with the iPhone directly. If Outlook syncs with an Exchange server you can sync the iPhone directly with the Exchange server by creating an Exchange account in mail settings.
If it doesn't you can sync Outlook and the phone with a CalDAV server, such as Google or Yahoo.
You mention duplicates. What are you currently syncing with that is resulting in duplicates?
Lawrence,
I have exact same problem as CoolMcCool, except that addresses also do not sync. I went to "Default Calendar" but Outlook is not an option. Interestingly, my "Notes" do sync.
If you have a Mac as CoolMcCool does you cannot sync an iPhone directly with Outlook. If you don't have a Mac tell me what you have.
I'm using a PC... nothing seems to work. I'm brand new to the Apple environment so need step by step instructions. Thx!
Thanks Lawrence. ...but if the Mac's Outlook calendar syncs with the iCal or Entourage on the same computer, couldn't that info then sync across to the iPhone? So: Outlook syncs to iCal on same computer, then iCal syncs to iPhone's iCal. That's what I was hoping could happen (no luck so far).
Between my wife and I we have a desktop Mac, an iPhone 4, iPhone GS, iPad, and a couple of PC laptops. Ideally I'd like to sync the calendars and mail across all of them. The highest priority for me is to sync one of the laptops (PC Outlook), my iPhone 3GS, and the desktop Mac. As I said I would prefer to use Outlook 2011 on the Mac, but if that is going to make it too hard I could revert to Entourage or iCal.
The duplicates are the recurring events (e.g. birthdays). That problem is occuring between the iPhone 3GS and the Mac.
If you have a PC your iPhone calendar should sync to Outlook. If it doesn't reinstall iTunes as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923. Don't skip any steps. You will not lose any iTunes content by reinstalling.
Let us know what happens.

If the calendar is solely on the computer and it does not sync with any cloud service there's no easy way to transfer between apps on your computer. If you go to iCal Preferences, Accounts tab, and click on the + you can add a cloud account. The dropdown (originally says "Automatic") will show you the cloud services iCal supports. Unfortunately, the only equivalent option for Outlook is "Exchange". So to sync iCal and Outlook you would need to sync both to an Exchange server. There are commercial Exchange servers that you pay to use, and Google offers a free one.

If the PC is your primary sync device for your iPhone you can sync the 3GS to Outlook through iTunes. If Outlook does not show up as a sync option on the iPhone's Info tab in iTunes try reinstalling iTunes. But I think the easier approach, given all of your devices that need to sync, is to choose one of the cloud sync options.

How are you syncing these now? I was under the impression that you were unable to sync.

Sorry - confusing isn't it? The iPhone 3GS is synching with all/some calendar events from the Entourage app on the Mac desktop, but it was not synching with Outlook on the same Mac desktop. Entourage seems to pass events to Outlook (on the same Mac), but not visa versa.
Much as I prefer using Outlook on the Mac, it is not good to me if it won't synch to Apple mobile devices. I hope there is a technical reason for this, and not some divide and conquer commercial strategy.
I just dumped the PC Laptop, and bought an iPad Mini, partly in the hope that this would help me synch between home desktop (Mac), iPhone 3GS and portable (now iPad mini). I'm sure this would be easy IF I stopped using Outlook on the Mac. I might just have to do that soon.
Lawrence,
I reinstalled iTunes, clicked back up to this computer and it now syncs. Only remaining problem is that when i check to see if any updates to Apps, the message is all Apps downloaded, but 2 still "sit" on my phone waiting for updates because they are too large to download directly. Keep looking for them on the PC, but nothing.
Again, thanks for the help.
Where is the Manual? On iTunes, Outlook, Apple or Microsoft?
