How to sync Outlook for Mac 2011 calender with iCal

I use Outlook for Mac 2011 as my mail application. When accepting meeting requests these are transferred to calender in Outlook. When sync. my iphone with my Mac, only iCal is synced. I'm missing the appointments from Outlook calender.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

You have to set this up through itunes. Plug your phone into your mac, select the phone under devices in itunes, select the info tab at the top, half way down the page is a tick box section called sync ical calendars, tick this on and select the calendars you would like to sync.

Your outlook calendar should also appear here.

If it doesn't go to outlook and turn on calendar syncing in preferences under the sync services panel at the bottom.

Cheers

Thnx for your quick reply - but it does not solve the issure.

Sync with iCal works already - that's not an issue. But in iTunes there is no option in the info section to sync with Outlook calendar. So., accepting a meeting request in Outlook will create an appointment in Outlook calendar, which cannot be synced with my iPhone by using iTunes; neither will this appointment show up in iCal. Hope this is a better description of the issue and may help to find a solution.

Also, the sync options only offer syncing Contacts; or do I have to enable syncing Calendars with iCal somehow ?

Exact problem that I'm having. But iCal sees the stuff I have in Outlook, and it updates to the iPhone, but Outlook doesn't see the stuff in iCal. This is a problem because I have some web calendars (via Teamsnap, a sports team website) that are only viewable in iCal (Outlook doesn't have the option, apparently).

Very strange, clunky design, having to use 2 calendars.

Here's some screen grabs of the settings I use. I do not use the online iCal calendar. My iphone is synced to outlook and the local ical calendar hosted on my laptop.

I can enter and receive/accept appointments using any of these three calendars and they all update and sync.

The calendar called "No category" is my outlook calendar.

If I enter any appointments they have to be entered on the calendar called "work" on my laptop and phone – otherwise outlook does not pick them up.

As demichae said in his post above "Outlook doesn't see the stuff in iCal" – at least the online iCal stuff.

It's not very straightforward.

Hope this helps.

Thnx for the screenshots.

But when I open SyncServices in Outlook it only offers sync-options for contacts. I cannot find the scren you are referring to. Where can I find your first screenshot ?

Also in itunes, when I connect my iphone and open the Info-Tab for my connected iphone, there is no option to sync with Outlook; neither for Contacts nor for calenders.

Again: I run Outlook for Mac 2011. Does that make a difference ?

Update your copy of Office for mac 2011 to Service Pack 1 (only contact sync was offered prior to SP1)

As Csound1 stated, update Office 2011 to get Calendar sync.

On the iTunes Info tab, for Address Book Contacts, try All Contacts. The option for Selected groups list the same group names (or categories) as you have in Outlook such as Home, No category etc. None are "named" Outlook.
