ASC Home Page "Your View" unclear message in header

I found communities unusable with IE8 so am now trying my MacBook. Thought it would be fun to experiment now that things should work correctly since I am using everything Apple. So I personalized my Your View tab on the ASC home page. Deleted two widgets, moved one around. After saving changes, the page shows the message below, just under the Your View tab. What does it mean? I don't know what a status update is, and if I select 'Reset To Default" then my personalization will disappear (yes, I tried it).

Status updates have been upgraded with new functionality. To preview its replacement - check out the new "Community Activity Widget". Select 'personalize' then 'Reset To Default'.

BTW, why is this tab named Your View rather than My View? That seems strange.
