dent by power button

i just noticed that by the power button of my macbook, the aluminum shell is slightly dented in. It looks like a manufacturing flaw since the dents lead into the button. Its really not noticible, but it still hurts to see it there, and you can also feel it. My macbook pro is only 10 months old. Will apple fix it or give me a new one?

Well it is hard to say. They may not consider that a manufacturing defect since it hasn't been reported for 10 months. Generally the only defects that could possibly occur at this time would be hardware malfunctions like hard drive failure or some other internal component failure. If it was dented right out of the box that is different but this would likely be considered accidental damage which is NOT covered under warranty. However, Apple Stores are generally VERY generous and if you explain what happened they will get it repaired. I know someone who dropped his and the screen cracked in the corner and they generously replaced it for free. So i would make a genius bar appointment and see what happens. Keep in mind though that they would have to replace the entire topcase which includes the keyboard and all surrounding aluminum.
