With the Add Printer pane stalling on the determination of the installable options it would suggest that the Mac has an issue with communicating with the network LJ. Open System Preferences > Security and select the Firewall tab. If the firewall is on, turn it off temporarily to see if that helps. If it is already off, do you have any other anti-spy software installed? This could be blocking the connection. If you don't have any such software then you could try a reset of the printing system on the MBP. Here's the steps;
1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
4. Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
5. Restart your Mac
This will remove your print queues but not your printer drivers. So you will only need to add your printer queues again.
With regards to adding the queue, what protocol are you selecting? Are you using the Default Add Printer view to locate the printer on the network (using Bonjour)? If yes, then I suggest you try adding the printer using IP > HP Jetdirect. This will require you to enter the IP address of the printer and then possibly manually selecting the LJ4200 driver in the Print Using menu.
