Wifi network password changed

i had a password protected wifi network setup. the network then changed passwords. when i click on it to try to join i get a message "unable to join the network 'x'" rather than a prompt for a new password. how do i get to where i can change the password and connect to the existing wifi network?

Go to Settings ~~~

WIFI (make sure it is "ON")~~~

tap the blue arrow to the right of the network you are trying to connect to with your new password~~~

scroll to HTTP Proxy~~~

tap on "Manual" and make sure the "Authentication" is "ON", enter your password~~~

Go back to networks and tap on the network you want and a prompt for password should appear.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!!

This is an issue for me as well.

We have a WPA2 Enterprise wireless network at work with hidden SSID, access to which is via domain credentials. Every 90 days we have to change our domain password and this of course means any wifi access also needs to be changed.

In the past, the only way to update the password on the iPad is to click "Other..." in wifi settings and add in the network settings again from scratch.

Two things annoy me about this:

1 - if the ipad tries to connect to the network with a now-incorrect password it doesn't prompt you.

2 - there's no way in network settings to just update the password.

It would be nice if there was a prompt asking for the password whenever it got updated and then it could go back to remembering the network, but there should at least be a way to change the password in network settings.

Unless I'm completly missing something here.

Just looked at your problem with changing wifi passwords and the problem of the iPad not prompting for a new password to reconnect. Simple answer to this.

1. Settings

2. Wifi connections.

3. Swipe from left to right on the wifi connection that you are trying to connect to when the ipad finds the wifi connection. The ipad will automatically prompt a password.

Hope this helps.

john238-

jimhdk's reply is overkill. please do not do this. this will erase all your network passwords. you might be lucky

and have one secured wifi network or you might have 20 or 99 passwords and his advise will erase them all

instead go to settings

select wifi

at choose a network find your network and click on the right arrow

click forget this network

then try connecting again with the new password

thats odd. i was able to. perhaps i do not understnd the problem.

i connected to my network

i changed my passowrd to my wpa network via the web page

i rebooted the router

my ipad would not connect to the network. it asked me to signup for a 3g account

yet i was still able to click that right arrow and forget it.

if there is nothing to forget, as in no forget button, then you never connected to that network in the first place

yeah perhaps you should leave apple feedback on the enhancement request

but until apple listens to us you just need to click the right arrow and press the forget this network button

i wish apple would let me join my macs, my ipad and my iphone to my airport extreme using its "add network client" feature in airport utility, but they don't.

its a neat feature it saves me from entering my network password on my printer and my usb stick

(which both are wifi protected setup enabled)

I called my campus tech support, and they told me to do the following (which worked for me, BTW):

Hold down the home button as well as the top button until you see the apple logo

Click settings, wifi, then choose your desired network. From there, you should be able to re-type your username and password.

Hope this helps!
