Cloning Hard Drive problems

Yesterday I went out and bought a new FW External Drive. I used "Disc Utility" and checked my internal hard drive. I had no problems. I then found this great article written by a member on "Cloning w/ Disc Utility". It was very helpful (THANKS!!). My problem is I have used about 27GB of my HD. At about 7 GB, I got this message

RESTORE FAILURE
An error (2) occured while copying. (No such file or directory)

After 3 times erasing/trying this, I used "Super Duper!". It worked fine, and I created a bootable drive.

How can I make an exact copy of my HD? Many files were not there, and many files had a red circle with -. I couldn't access those files and I was trying my my adm password.

Any help would be appreciated !! THANKS

I have learned that when the data gets over a certain amount, Superduper and Silver Keeper will baulk. One thing which helped was to make sure that Spotlight wasn't indexing the drive while the backup was happening. Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Spotlight -> Privacy is where to add the destination hard drive. If that won't add, you'll have to solve corruption in your Spotlight index, which I can try to help.

Well, you got me confused. If you are to provide help with the specific problem AppleG4Cool is experiencing you should enlighten us as to what you are talking about. I have never had a problem with either SuperDuper! or Silverkeeper "baulking" at high amounts of data (yes, I use them both, for backing up two differrent G4s).

What is this error and do you have an idea of why I got it? Do I need to reinstall Tiger or could it be from Classic 9.2? Why would the clone drive not allow me to access different files (picts, documents, etc) and give me a red circle with a line in it? A lot of questions.... YES, but I can't figure this out.
THANKS

Hi again

What you are experiencing is unusual. You should be able to clone with any of the aforementioned applications and end up with an exact bootable clone of your HD.

For problems with SuperDuper!, Dave Nanian of Shirt Pocket Software is usually very helpful, and has solved many problems for individual users. You might want to see his FAQ first and then get in touch:

I suspect you have some kind of file corruption on your HD, but I do not have the knowledge to help you further.
