I just got an imac after using pc forever, after getting the iphone for verizon i decided to switch. When I connect my iphone my music doesn't automatically transfer to my itunes library like it did with my pc! I just want to transfer my music onto my computer.

If the music is purchased from iTunes you can plug in your iPhone and inside of iTunes goto File - Transfer purchases from iphone. If they are not purchased from iTunes (such as imported from CD) then you will need to transfer the music from your old computer to the new one. Just grab the iTunes music folder and import it into iTunes.
iTunes Purchases will automatically sync to your computer after you have synced the first time.
You will need to migrate your PC's iTunes Library to your Mac so you won't have to erase everything on your iPhone.

Your iTunes library on your old PC has what you need for the transfer, just copy the folder named iTunes over to your new mac and all will be well. To my knowledge, you could never import a phone library into iTunes either on PC or Mac unless iTunes can validate your purchase. If you could, music piracy would be rampant.
When you transfer over the itunes lib will all of the media transfer ? apps music etc ?
You can click on the Sync button in iTunes on the Mac (with the iPhone connected to the Mac) and iCloud when the contents will be automatically shared between the two.
The most easy way to solve your problems is to transfer iPhone music to your new iMac.
