Jul 24, 2011 4:35 PM in response to pchoby zekefromhayward,Hello, what is used to elevate the two cinema displays so that they sit at the same level at the iMac?

Jul 24, 2011 4:58 PM in response to zekefromhaywardby pcho,Hi zekefromhayward,
I made it myself. I got a piece of wood cut to the shape odf the base and got the thickness to the desired height. Then I sprayed painted it with silver car polish. There was a bit of work involved but I think it is worth it in the end.
Here is a close up picture of it.
Cheers

That looks great. Seriously, you could sell that. If you google my question, it is all over the internet about how to do it. I really like your set up. So, I myself, am about to re invest into a new iMac 27 plus a single monitor. I can later add another and they will flow all together? That is so perfect for my photography editing and all that stuff. Thanks for the idea.

Jul 24, 2011 5:12 PM in response to zekefromhaywardby pcho,Hi zekefromhayward,
Yes you are right I could mass produced it and make some money. What I also did was after i polished the wood up to the desired shape and size, I then roughen and groved into the wood and applied a layer of fibre glass on it. This way the paint will stick better to the surface.
I dont have dimensions with me at the moment as I am at work. The surface shape is easily done by tracing the base of the display. It is only the thickness that you require. You have to be careful with the thickness of the base depending how you angle your display. As the LCD's and the Imac are pivoted from a different height, titling the displays affects the thickness of your base. It is hard to explain unless you see it. You have to take my word.

Sorry about delay, finally got my web page going but then I found out how to upload image here without the need to get my web page going
Below is the base
Perry
Now here is the 27" imac with 2 x 27" display. The set height of the base may vary depending what angle you are pivoting the LCD's and Imac. As they are pivoted at different heights, it actually affects the heights of the unit from the table. So make sure you set the units at the desired angle before you measure the height of the base that is needed to make all of them level. I hope you understand what I am saying. I had alot of trouble initially getting the right thickness of the base as each time I measure it, it seems to change and I finally worked that out. Tilting the LCD's to different angles affects the thickness of the bases.

Jan 30, 2012 3:47 PM in response to pchoby ttroake87,Hi Perry
What is the Graphics situation on your Imac? 500mb or 1gb video memory? (or a customized amount?)
I am looking at buying this exact set-up (it looks totally awesome) but i dont know if the standard 500mb memory on the entry level 27" iMac will suffice to support 2x 27" displays (via Thunderbolt).
Any thought?

Feb 1, 2012 5:41 PM in response to pchoby CreativeMage,Hey Perry,
Would you be willing to be contracted to duplicate what you have made here and create 2 more stands? We can discuss the pricing of your services if you're willing. They look amazing!
Do you have a way I could contact you directly to discuss it?
Thanks!
Evan
